Practice Questions: Hess's Law
This worksheet is also available in the following formats:  Word | RTF | PDF
1.

Given the following equations:

4 NH3 (g) + 5 O2 (g) → 4 NO (g) + 6 H2O (l)   ΔH° = -1170 kJ

4 NH3 (g) + 3 O2 (g) → 2 N2 (g) + 6 H2O (l)   ΔH° = -1530 kJ

Using these two equations, determine the heat of formation,  ΔHf°, nitrogen monoxide, NO.

Hint: Use your mouse to highlight the following line of text to see the heat of formation reaction:

½N2 + ½O2 → NO
